P22 Stickley 2 is a humanist, old style–rooted design with a contemporary execution and wide set of OpenType features and stylistic sets. Inspired by the history of printmaking and typesetting, it is built with five optical sizes and three weights across roman and italic styles.
Expanded Styles and Language Support
Stickley 2 is an expansion and refinement of the original P22 Stickley optical family. It includes the new, largest optical size of Banner, new weights of semi-bold and bold across all sizes and styles, a broader Latin alphabet set, as well as the addition of Greek, Cyrillic, and Cherokee alphabets, supporting more than 200 languages.
Optical Design
Typefaces were originally designed for the physical size at which they were to be printed, with subtle variations in proportion, detail, contrast, and visual weight to ensure they were as clear at 6 point as they were elegant at 68 point. This creates a unified design as the various sizes were set together on a page.
Stickley 2 comprises 30 cuts across five optical masters: Banner for titling; Display for emphasis; Headline for contrast; Text for page content; and Caption for small sizes and notes, as well as a fully variable otf.
OpenType & Technology
This typefaces brings all features that modern OpenType technology can offer, along with the craft, detail, and intricacies of original optical master sets.
OpenType features include ligatures, oldstyle and lining figures, alternates, multiple alphabets and diacritics, and swash caps for the italics. Stickley 2 is a feature-rich workhorse with international language support and multi-alphabet functionality.
